We are supported by parents, grandparents, teachers, former trustees, business owners, librarians, local authors, and residents who want trustees committed to our library’s mission — people who value constitutional rights, professional library standards, and nonpartisan leadership that serves the best interests of the library and its community.

Instead of respecting the rights of parents to make their own decisions about the content of children’s reading materials, the current Board majority has decided to ignore First Amendment rights, professional expertise of the library staff, and legal counsel, choosing religious bias over civil law. Their biased behavior offends the Constitution, the First Amendment, and basic human decency.
The surest way to correct this is coming in November. Elect candidates to the Cromaine District Library Board of Trustees who vow to uphold the Constitution, defend the rights of readers, and support the principles of a public library dedicated to serving the tastes and interests of the entire library community without prejudice or bias.
-Kate DeRosier, Former Library Trustee
Thank you for protecting my childhood library! Reading books with queer characters as a child were essential for my self image growing up as a closeted teen at Hartland Highschool. Now that I am in my 30s I still believe reading at Cromaine Library helped me envision the bright future I have now created for myself as an adult.
-J.B. Former Hartland Student
Parents should guide their own children's reading choices. Every family has their own comfort level. Libraries should provide choices without imposing specific beliefs on others.

CFE is a slate of smart, passionate, dedicated residents who will put the entire community first. They are truly nonpartisan and dedicated to the stewardship of our amazing Cromaine library.
-Rebecca, Former Library Trustee
I believe in the First Amendment, the value of a truly public library for ALL. Growing up in Hartland and raising my family here, I know and have seen first hand the value our nearly 100 year old library provides. I want to preserve Cromaine for my children and grandchildren.
-Carrie Shrier, Hartland alumni and parent
The board meetings that I have attended reflect division and incompetence. Cromaine for Everyone are four highly qualified candidates that will make a much better board.
-Cromaine patron
The current board cultivated an environment of harassment that drove out the former teen librarian and has consistently worked to make it known that my loved ones are not welcome.
-Teen volunteer at Cromaine
I proudly endorse these candidates working to restore responsible and transparent leadership to Cromaine District Library.
Our library should be a place where everyone is welcome, individual and parental choices are respected, and decisions are guided by neutral policies, sound legal advice, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
These longtime residents understand that Cromaine belongs to the entire community. Their commitment to lawful governance, intellectual freedom, fiscal responsibility, and excellent library services offers a constructive path forward.
This election will shape Cromaine’s direction for the next four years. I support candidates who will listen to residents, respect and defer to professional expertise, and keep the library focused on its essential mission: serving everyone in our community.
-Cindy Shaw, Hartland Consolidated Schools Board of Education Trustee
I may have moved away, but a piece of my heart remains in Hartland and Cromaine Library! Thank you, Rosso, Wright, Hawker and MacGregor for running for Cromaine Library Board and for standing up to support and protect our beloved Cromaine Library, its legacy and future and the ALA Library Bill of Rights and ALA Intellectual Freedom Statement! Cromaine must truly be for Everyone! May you ALL be Victorious on November 3, 2026!
-Sandra Novacek, Librarian and Director, Cromaine Library (1975-1996)
I endorse Cromaine for Everyone because they are intelligent, experienced, servant leaders of the community and actual library patrons who care about Cromaine and the community it serves.
I watched Gogoleski, Smith, and Basley over the past year make decisions that harm our library and its mission. They voted to remove all the book displays, voted to remove the Library Bill of Rights which protects patrons privacy and access to information free from censorship, voted to relocate 160 youth books to the adult section without due process review, violating minors First Amendment rights, and against warnings from the library's legal counsel and the ACLU. They proposed adding "criminal prosecution" labels to books. They refused to budget and approve staff memberships with the American Library Association and Michigan Library Association. They refuse to work with the library's legal counsel or heed their advice. They welcome lawsuits against the library in their personal pursuits of federal rulings at the taxpayers expense.
Trustees are supposed to protect the library, not actively invite lawsuits against it. This choice is a no-brainer. Vote Cromaine for Everyone and protect Cromaine's future.
-Shauna Brito, Cromaine Patron and Friend
As a Hartland business owner, I would like to see a Cromaine board that values and treats all patrons equally and kindly who enter the library. Also, we need a board that treats the director and staff respectfully and trusts and values their expertise.
-Hartland business owner
As a former President of the Friends of Cromaine, I highly endorse this team!
-Donna Andrade
As a longtime Hartland resident, a graduate of Hartland Schools, a Hartland dad, and the husband of a Hartland employee, I am all-in on these four as the best choices going forward! We love Cromaine!
-N.D. Hartland Resident
They are candidates who care about our library and not focused on culture war nonsense. They have my vote because Cromaine is for everyone!
-Cromaine Patron
It should be up to each individual to make their own decision on book choices. Otherwise, there is no freedom.
-Diana Whitehead, Cromaine Patron
Any trustee that doesn't believe in or follow the principles of the American Library Association shouldn't be a library trustee. Cromaine for Everyone are better suited to support the staff and the well-being of the library.
-C.B., Cromaine patron
Cromaine for Everyone is a group that applies kindness and common sense in their decisions. We very much need these qualities represented on our library board.
-Cromaine patron
I endorse Cromaine for Everyone because I do not want the board to tell me what I can read, which will be their next move.
-Cromaine patron
I have been reading the challenged books. There is nothing wrong in these books. They are not harmful to children.
-Pat Richards, Retired Teacher
Literacy and a diverse education is so important, especially in current times and Cromaine for Everyone has the power to support a strong community with kindness and empathy for all our neighbors.
-Former Hartland student
I don't want the library board to put their ideas and values on what book and events are available at Cromaine. I want a more inclusive and kind library board that serves everyone.
E.H. -Cromaine Patron
It's time to bring the library back to why it was established - to serve everyone, from cradle to grave.
-Former Library Trustee
The fact that government officials ostracized a group of children by segregating their books to the adult section because of their religious views against gender identity is appalling and a misuse of their office. The library is a place where everyone should feel welcome and given the freedom and opportunity to choose the books of their choice without censorship or restriction.
-Nan S. Cromaine supporter
This new push to censor books is beyond concerning! I want a library board that supports ALL partrons and is focused on the rights of the constitution!
-Hartland resident and concerned citizen
I believe Rosso, Wright, Hawker, and MacGregor truly care about Cromaine and the Hartland community. I know they will protect and restore our library's resources and its mission to the public.
-Amber, Cromaine Patron
I support the First Amendment in all its forms. Censorship and repression are tenets of fascism and dictatorship. Free public libraries and public education are foundational to a democracy.
-Kim Evans, Teacher and Grandmother
I endorse Cromaine for Everyone because I want my (and all) kids to have access to books that represent them and their families.
-Hartland Parent
Censorship isn't Christian. Jesus discussed texts and believed in the power of stories. He didn't seek to destroy his detractors or shut down debate.
-A Christian and library supporter
Library staff are incredible trained professionals and deserve the trust and support of Trustees.
-Cromaine patron, Non-profit professional
I support Rosso, Wright, Hawker, and MacGregor because they believe in the power and freedom to read and learn.
-Louise Zrull, Cromaine patron
I believe libraries are for all. All viewpoints, all education levels, all curiosities, and all interests. All to provide information for us to learn and grow throughout our lives.
