Supporting Families, Strengthening Community, Serving Cromaine
I have served on the Cromaine District Library Board for almost five years, but my connection to Cromaine goes back much further — I’ve been a frequent patron for 46 years. Libraries have always been an important part of my life, and Cromaine has been a constant source of learning, connection, and community for my family and me.
Before retiring, I spent my career as a Licensed Master Social Worker and served as the Director of Livingston County United Way and Livingston County Catholic Charities. My work focused on fundraising, strengthening local nonprofits, and supporting individuals and families in need. I’ve also served on the boards of my church, our local hospital, and several other community organizations. These experiences shaped my belief in strong governance, collaboration, and service to others.
I currently serve as Treasurer of the Cromaine District Library Board, where I am committed to professional governance, staff development, and the responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. I believe deeply in keeping the library board non‑partisan, expanding awareness of Cromaine’s many free services, and ensuring that every resident in the district feels welcome and included.
My husband, Curt Schaap, and I have been married for 46 years. We have two grown children and three wonderful grandchildren who remind us every day why strong public libraries matter.
